Yaletown: The New Airport Lounge

I spend an hour or two every afternoon in a coffee shop in Yaletown.  I’ll grab a coffee, answer emails, and chat with all of the locals.

Yaletown is full of marketing companies, web development studios, and game development studios.  Pretty much everyone runs around with an iPhone and a MacBook.

Recently, I have been seeing a lot of Blackberries and Windows laptops.  Today, I was sitting next to a women holding a Blackberry with a cracked screen and a trackball that was only half working.  Her IBM Thinkpad was running Windows XP and IE6.

There was so many types of fail there I wanted to cry for her.

Then I noticed the carry-on bag and Air Canada ticket. (More fail with Air Canada, there.)  Suddenly, it hit me.  It only takes about 15 minutes by Skytrain from the Yaletown/Roundhouse Skytrain Station to YVR.

The coffee shops in Yaletown have essentially become an extended airport lounge.
